Manuel Baixauli is a painter and writer. Espiral (1998), the first book he published, was a collection of short stories where he capture obsessions - the fugacity of everything, death, oblivion... - that were already present in his painting and which will also be reflected in the later works. It follows the novels Verso (2001) and L’home manuscrit (2007). This latter one receives an unusual reception from the critic, with six prizes, and becomes, despite its complexity, a success of sales. In 2010, he completed a new edition of Espiral, rewritten and thoroughly polished, and in 2014 he published La cinquena planta, a novel that receives the Critics Award of Valencian Writers and the Crexells Prize for Catalan Narrative. His latest book is Ningú no ens espera (2016), a collection of articles accompanied by drawings made by the same author.
